Confession time, I didn’t actually get to see this live. I watched part of the game with the sound down while working from home. Occasionally leaning over to it when the announcers got excited for a shot on target or to rewatch an actual goal via replay. Around the 80 something minute mark I turned it off. I was frustrated, but more importantly was jumping on a call for work that required my full attention.
Jump to me getting off the call and seeing the final score notification and a text from my Dad that simply read “wow wow wow”. I didn’t want to wait for the extended highlight I posted yesterday, so I went to the DVR to pick back up from where I left off. YouTube TV for some reason would not play the English call, but would start up the Spanish one.
Jump once more to me waiting for the goals to come:
89’ - they have to get one here right?
90’ - ok 5 minutes of extra time
94’ - do they give Bergwijn a VAR penalty for that?
94:45’' - holy shit!
96':10’ - HOLY SHIT!
None of that was the little thing though.
Six. Watching the Spanish call was a real treat. At 7:33 in the video his voice isn’t even recovered from the last goal. His “Gooooooaaalll” cracks, rises and falls, and lends every human emotion to a wild finish.
