This week researchers at the DOE announced they had achieved net positive nuclear fusion. Which for my very layman’s brain is best described as the energy they put into creating fusion was less than the energy they got out of it. Creating fusion has been possible, but not a solution where more energy was created. Not until very recently did I actually understood what that meant or why it is such a big deal.
