In my Travel EDC post a few weeks ago I listed a few items I wanted to add to the mix. There was also a few items I forgot about too. Items that are frankly staples in my around town EDC. Let’s explore:
Ciele Hat(s)- The inevitable march of time and my genetic lot in life took my hair. I almost always wear a hat when I step out. I picked up a few Ciele caps at first as replacements for raggedy old running caps, but I ended up adopting them as my everyday wears. Keep the sun off my dome and accessorize with my shoes.
Herschel Wallet - Ages ago I left behind the world of wallets that might give one the freedom to fill up on paper money, old receipts, and outdated insurance cards. My first was a sharp little thing from Saddleback, but when I left it on top of my car after a workout I moved to Herschel. Nothing but pleased with this thing. It forces me to keep things light and efficient.
Apple Watch - I scoffed at these when they first came out. I already have a phone for notices and I already have a running watch for workouts. Then my wife got one and bragged on it for a year before I broke down and got a series 4. Now it is part of my routine. My phone stays in my pocket more and I use it all the time for workouts. It is getting longer in the tooth and the Ultra calls to me.
First Aid Kit (new) - This goes in the backpack now. It is dumb not to have it frankly. It weights almost nothing and for as long as we have kids the likelihood that they catch a bump or scrap on a trip is incredibly high. Contents: Band-Aids, antibiotic ointment, and ibuprofen.
Keys - Nothing special here. I keep a knock off pry bar on them, but otherwise it is car key fobs, house keys, and my wedding ring. All on a flexible cable key ring.
