Frankly I should have taken a least some pictures of the really cool model railroad setups at the Great Train Show this weekend. What I end up shooting were the fun, silly, and absurd miniatures instead.
Model railroads as a hobby sits right next to woodworking in my personal backlog of back burner hobbies I’ll take up when I have the time, money, and space. I inherited both fascinations from my grandfather who pre and post retirement was a fellow dabbler. He had an attic full of model trains and a basement woodworking shop he had converted from his former in home dentistry office (not a hobby thankfully, but his career).
Knowing that I don’t plan to dedicated the space or funds to a model train setup anytime soon (even N scale), how do I scratch the itch? I am interested in something slightly smaller and less ambitious. Diorama YouTube + this weekends show, have me enamored with the idea of small 6”x6”-ish dioramas of scenes from around Richmond.
